Colleges in Boston Enjoy Fashion Week

Colleges in Boston are enjoying the last few days of Fashion Week, which ends tomorrow...or does it?

Boston Fashion Week, which officially kicked off October 5th and will continue until the 11th, has enjoyed a good run this year, successfully honoring the late Marilyn Riseman, a fashion legend in our city. Many designers and event producers kept one front row seat open as a tribute to Marilyn Riseman's lifetime commitment to the art of fashion and her tireless support of Boston's creative community.

Though BFW 2014 is officially 7-days, PRE-BFW events actually kicked of in mid-September with POST-BFW events running to the end of November. If you haven't gotten your fashion fix yet, be sure to check out the full schedule at Boston Fashion Week.

Not only was the schedule packed this year, but so was the roster of colleges in Boston participating. School of Fashion Design, Mount Ida College, Mass Art, Bay State College, Lasell College, Framingham State, The New England Institute of Art, Fisher College, and the Boston Center for Adult Education all partnered with BFW, sending students to assist in the productions, learn more about the biz first-hand, and ultimately pave the runways of the future.

Fisher College students were no exception, rolling up their sleeves for many of the BFW events. Noelle Brady, a freshman in the Fashion Merchandising program, volunteered for the Powerful Women Empowering Women runway fundraiser event October 7th, sponsored by Dress for Success Boston and Denise Hajjar"It was a lot of fun...and I got to be a part of all the chaos", says Noelle, "The clothing was amazing"!

Noelle was not alone. Many other Fisher students got involved, volunteering for a variety of glitzy galas all over Boston, including:

HEAD to TOE, a menswear fashion show October 7th, featuring Carmelo Clothing Company

Boston En Vogue - Modern Elegance Fashion Show, Oct 7th, presented by the Bijou

Just to name a few...

To all BFW student-participants, regardless of program or college in Boston, we say THANKS for supporting the Hub's fashion community!
